Foster Care

In 2002 my parents Tim and Donna went through classes to be foster parents in Shelby county, AL. Since then we have been working with the Department of Human Resources (DHR) to give children between one and eighteen a place to stay for anywhere between a few days to the rest of their life.

A foster child-Brittney who is currently living with us.

The first foster children we were asked to house were Chelsea and Josh they were a pair of siblings that needed a home. After two years we ended up adopting both Chelsea and Josh. Since that instance we have had over thirty foster Children in and out of our home. This has ranged from foster care, which could last extended periods of time to respite for just a few days. .

We also have adopted two more children into the McDow clan by adding Jake and Emma, and still have one foster Child Brittny living with us. As a family we feel very called to this ministry of providing homes for Children that need them. In Matthew 18:5 Jesus said "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me". So we will continue to do foster work in Shelby county as long as we are able.

If you would like more information about foster care contact your local Department of Human Resources or fill out the form and I will help get you in touch with them. The state of Alabama needs more foster parents every day! The impact you can have on a child's life is tremendous. Most people aren't even aware that there are as many foster children in their own county that need homes.
