Back to Perfect Lawn, Inc.

My Parents: Thanksgiving 2008 I am the daughter of Jeff and Pam Lucas. My parents have been married for almost 29 years! Believe it or not, they were also elementary, middle, and high school sweethearts. My mom works for the University of Montevallo as the Senior Departmental Secretary of the Theatre and Communication Studies Department. She loves her job just as much as her students love her! My dad is the owner of Perfect Lawn, Inc. Everyday he is on the job working from sun up until sun down. All of my life, both my mom and dad have been my strongest support system. I give them so much credit because they never missed a dance recital, awards banquet, or cheerleading competition. Being an only child, they dedicated their life to raising only me and I love the relationship that we have formed over the years. Luckily, I still live very close to my parents and we enjoy grilling out dinner together and watching our weekly American Idol. Both my mom and dad encourage me to always strive for my goals and to always do what makes me happy!

My Dad and I: Thanksgiving 2008 I am very fortunate to have most of my close family members live in Montevallo and literally only minutes away. My mom has an identical twin, Paula Lowery. She is a wonderful aunt, but we share a much closer relationship. Paula is what I would consider my, "other mother." When I was a baby, she would keep me during the days and she had an obsession with buying me baby food. Paula has faced many struggles in her life, but I look up to her so much for her strength and continual efforts to push through the trying times. She has one daughter, Olivia, whom I love and consider my own. Olivia is an exceptional student and continues to make straight A's, even since she began middle school last year. Olivia and I could pass for sisters and she is even following in my footsteps with her involvement in extra curricular activities. She recently made the JV Cheerleading squad and enjoys playing softball as well.
My Grandmother and I: Thanksgiving 2008 I spend a lot of time with my grandmother, Carleen Guthrie. She is an incredible woman and I look up to her for her strength and courage. In her life, she has lost her husband and her son yet continued on to raise four other children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grand. She worked for years at the doctor's office as a nurse for Dr. Thomas. We all call her Nanny, and she is known in the community as Ms. Guthrie.
My cousin Julynn Bradshaw and her son, Baylor Slade Knight are also very close to me. Julynn is currently finishing her degree at the University of Montevallo. She is beautiful inside and out! Slade is two years old and I enjoy every minute I get to spend with him! He always brings a smile to my face even when I have had the worst day.
I love every member in my family and so grateful to have wonderful people in my life. We are just your typical southern, country bunch! I'm always excited for the next holiday so that we can all get together and celebrate. We always have a wonderful time together!
