My name is Laura Handley, I am a full time Student at The University of Montevallo where I am pursuing an Accounting degree. I live in Clanton,
Alabama with my Mom, Diane, my Dad, Larry and my sixteen year old brother, Benny. I am engaged to my best friend, Justin Headley. We started dating in 2005. After graduation,
in 2011, we are getting married and moving to Huntsville, AL.
I have always enjoyed taking pictures. This hobby turned into my passion when I received a cute little camera from Justin about 3 years ago. From
then, he has always encouraged me to pursue photography,professionally. At the time I would avoid all conversations that led to becoming a
professional photographer. I liked taking pictures but not enough to make a career out of it.
In March of 2006 I started working with a local action photography company called Memories In Action
(MIA). They were in desperate need of a new team member to work at events as a “table worker.” This
job included receiving payment and filling out paper work from the parents of the players at the events.
I loved my job as a “table worker.” After a few months of working with the company I started training
to become a photographer. In just a few weeks I was ready to take the children’s pictures. Now, I am
one of the top photographers in the company, I travel every weekend during the Spring, Summer, and Fall
all over the state to various tournaments and different city leagues to take action photographs.
While I was a senior in high school Justin gave me another camera. This time it was a professional
Nikon camera. Since I had this nice camera I decided it was time to broaden my photography knowledge
by attending The Birmingham School of Photography. This is where I learned how to make my camera my
best friend. I learned everything I needed to know to become a successful photographer. Justin attended all of the classes
with me and he is also a great photographer.
Today Justin and I own our own business, Smiles For You Photography. I am truly passionate about photography and
I love what I do. I take much pride in making my clients happy by capturing moments that they will keep
for a lifetime.
