More Recruiting Tips
This page includes some other ideas and tips to help you, the student-athlete, try to succeed in finding that right school.
- AVOID SCHOLARSHIP SCAMS! -There are many on-line companies that offer to put your individual scholarship search on-line, for a fee, so that coaches can find you. Truthfully, coaches don't go searching the web for players, so just take the time of day to do the work yourself.
- GRADES MATTER! -If your grades aren't good enough for college, it doesn't matter how good you are on the playing field. Make sure to work just as hard off the field as you do on the field.
- HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE. -Coaches notice your attitude and it can make a difference of their opinion about you and their decision of offering you a spot on the team.
- DON'T OVER- OR UNDERESTIMATE YOUR ABILITY! -You have to have an honest view of your ability. If not, you can severely limit your chances of getting a scholarship or being recruited.
- DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS! -Don't think you'll be recruited just because someone you think you are better than is. If you do, you will again limit your possibilities.
- DON'T JUST LOOK AT D1 PROGRAMS! -Just because it is more "prestigious," doesn't mean it's the only quality athletics. You can find solid programs at any level of division.
And most importantly: RELAX, BE YOURSELF, AND GOOD LUCK!
